Emma Borden

Emma Lenora Borden was born to Andrew & Sarah on March 1, 1851. She was 12 yrs old when her mother died, and in making a deathbed promise to her, promised to always watch over little Lizzie.

On the day of the murders Emma was 15 miles away in Fairhaven, MA visiting her friend Helen Brownell. It was here that she received the telegram from Dr. Bowen informing her of the killings and urging her back to Fall River.

Emma showed nothing but the strongest support for her sister during the trial and believed in Lizzie's innocence until the day of her death. She testified at Lizzie's inquest and was a star witness for the defense at the final trial in June 1893.

I just spoke to my friend in PA tonight, who stayed years ago in the Bridget room.

She told me she awoke in the middle of the night and she felt as if someone was sitting on the end of the bed.

She evidently turned on the light, and could see a depression where they were sitting.

I'm telling her about this website, with the hopes she will come by and tell more of the experience as she is the one directly involved.

This case is always interesting. Lizzie Borden is my 26th cousin 7 times removed through my paternal grandmother, but I know she's innocent in many ways. I feel that it could be Bridget "Maggie" Sullivan and her boyfriend or Maggie and cousin John Morse. There's definitely a hole in his alibi.

I'm not saying that there is activity there but I know for a fact that when there is a ghost it does not always appear.

We have a ghost in our house and there has been sometime months of quiet before a small thing or a rush of activity heard by both my husband and I.

In 1999 I traveled from the mountains of N.C. to New England and stayed for a night in the room where Abby was murdered. I was the only guest in the entire house that night. (I have been studying the case since 1964.) NO PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. The case is fascinating because of the family dynamics, Victorian-era history, and judicial aspects. There is NOTHING supernatural going on; "natural" family hatred is scary enough.

From what I was told none of the furniture is original to the house but it is original to the period. So in other words they are all from the same time that the murders took place but they are not the originals.

They encourage you to bring cameras. And you are absolutely able to bring your laptops, they do have WiFi once you are there ask for the password, I know it, but not sure if I should give it out. But yes they do encourage cameras, video, pictures, even recorders if you have them! Enjoy your stay, first time I went I got a man asking "Where have you been?" I got some orbs, and a 2 shadows!

Hello,
Husband and I are flying into Boston Friday morning for a weekend event. Kind of a last minute decision. I realize this is a longshot-- but what are the chances of reserving one of the smaller rooms that evening (1/23). Figure it can't hurt to ask! And is there really a breakfast served? You can email me the answer if you prefer. Thanks!!

I really learned alot about lizzie borden. I did a report seen a movie and learned even more history. Me and my friend would like to stay. She is 19 im 17. We are very intrested in these things. If we stay are we allowed to walk around.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote | Report to administrator

You are able to walk around as long as the other people in the house don't mind you doing so. They do ask that you respect other people if they prefer to sleep other than going around the house. There's normally a tour at 8pm, and after your tour you are able to like I said walk around as long as others don't mind. There are 3 floors, and 2 parts of the house. Once there you will understand what I mean about 2 parts to it. You should bring cameras if you have them in case you can catch something! Have a great time! I love this B&B.

Hi. I am Avy. I am 12 years old. I am very interested in Lizzie Bordon. I really want to see the house but I am afraid to stay overnight because it said there is paranormal acticvity. I was wondering If you let people visit the house just to look around, I also have read the children 5 and under is not aloud, what makes the house not appropriate for kids and will you let my three year old sister see the house if its just or the day? Thanks! :D  :-) ;-) 8) :-| :-*     :o :-? :-x  :zzz :P  :sigh:

Hi Avy,
May be when you get a bit older you can stay at the house when you are not so afraid. And it is not the kids under 5 can not come to the house, we just don’t allow children under 5 to stay over night. And the reason for that is for the curtisy of other quest in the house. Children under the age of 5 have a tendency to have tons of energy to expell.
Hope this clarifies some things.

How can the entire house be rented to accomodate 20 people but there are only eight rooms - with 2 person occupancy? Also, if I wanted to rent the second floor, what rooms are those? I see the Lizzie and Emma rooms share a bath with the John Morse room - is that just the shower?

Hi Nancy,
That is a valid question and the answer is some of the rooms can accommodate for more than 2 people in them. There are roll-a-way beds available for the extra guest.

I recently stayed at the house, and expensive is relative. The house tour that goes with it I believe it a lot more in depth than an average tour. I'm also guessing that it helps pay the staff and upkeep of the house. Lots of famous people have also stayed there, and it was totally worth the price.

My husband and I are spending the night in Andrews room. I understand it is a suite but I read if only two people are there then Abbeys room will stay empty. My question is, I don't think sleeping in that little bed with my hubby will be very comfortable and at home he has his own room because his snoring keeps me up. So do I have to pay extra in order to occupy the entire suite? Or do I need to make a pallet on the floor? I am so excited about coming there that I want to have the best experience for that price and because we are coming from Florida, so we can't just come anytime we want. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I was wondering if the furniture is original? also, if I rent a room can I bring my own camara @ laptop? Can we wander around inside or do we have to stay in our room during our stay?
