Susie was a great guide. She even included her own personal experiences in her talk. Good story teller. Beautiful walk around Atlanta in the evening. A fun night.
Long before Boulder became a charming mountain escape, it was inhabited by the Ute and Southern Arapaho tribes. The tranquility and harmony of the area wouldn’t last long, as the arrival of Spanish and white settlers unleashed violence and upheaval. The very streets where trendy shops and cozy cafés now sit are haunted with memories of betrayal and violence, tormented souls looking to tell their tales of lost promises and unsettled scores.
Boulder’s reputation as a progressive college town may be well-earned, but its history of conflict and mystery left a ghostly mark on the quiet corridors of the iconic public research university. Macky Auditorium’s Room 304 may have become a permanently locked storage space today, but the ghost of an innocent student who met her tragic end here fills the building with eerie organ music.
The beautiful Arnett-Fullen house holds more than the inspiration for a setting in one of Maryls Millhiser’s most popular novels. Beneath its Gothic, Victorian, and farmhouse charm, the spirit of a mischievous little girl in a white dress plays tricks on visitors, perhaps looking for her lost doll or just trying to warn off unsuspecting visitors.
Famous locals from Boulder’s past are buried at Columbia Cemetery, with the scandals and mysteries that surrounded their lives now manifesting where they rest in uneasy peace. Now, they’re the center of unresolved tales of betrayal and loss that keep the spirits of these souls tethered to this world.
You’ve hiked Chautauqua and marveled at the Flatirons, but Boulder’s ghostly side is waiting to be uncovered! This historic mountain town has eerie tales tied to its Gold Rush past, mysterious deaths, and restless spirits.
